Forward your desk phone messages to email transcriptions

Working from home? At some point, you will need to forward the calls coming into your desk phone so that folks can still reach you at that number.

You could have your calls forwarded to your personal cell phone, but I find it overwhelming to have work and personal calls coming in to the same device. As an alternative, I suggest having your calls forwarded to a Google Voice number instead. This has the added benefit of giving you free transcriptions of your messages so that you can read your voice messages instead of having to listen to them. Even better: you can have those transcripts forwarded directly to your email account!
